My Grandma used to say, “I can show you better than I can tell you.” Jonathan reminds me of her saying. His philosophies are lived, not just talked. It’s dynamic and refreshing. Just be about Your Thing for a change.
A few preliminary notes:
- I didn’t mean to be invisible. That was a recording accident.
- In my excitement to talk about Bruce Lee, I forgot to mention that he created the combat system/philosophy Jeet Kune Do. JKD is an important piece of this conversation between Jonathan and me.
- Please pay special attention to Video #3 (3:55 in, to be exact). Jonathan shares a lot of goodies, like how the movement of your body is a metaphor for the movement of your business. And he lets you in on his launchless launch. You’d almost think he was trying to keep it a ninja-secret ;-)
“To the illuminated mind
the whole world burns and sparkles with light.”

“The martial arts are ultimately self-knowledge.
A punch or a kick is not to knock the hell out of the guy
(or girl) in front, but to knock the hell out of your ego,
your fear, or your hang-ups.”
“Open yourself up to the possibility…
Plans are useful… We all need to strategize to a certain extent,
but at a certain point we have to let go of the strategy
to really be alive.”
“Be like water, my friend.”
