How to *stay* inspired (by caring for your Howl).

Q:  Once you’ve gotten inspired, how do you stay inspired?

A:  By feeding your Howl.  By respecting that deeper part of yourself that runs on raw urgency.  There are no tea-time doilies or polite chit-chat for this chamber of your soul.  Your Howl by-passes your intellect, manners, training, grooming, conditioning, masks.  Your Howl is who you are at the core of your freedom.  It doesn’t give a hoot about popularity or approval.  If you let your Howl out often, you probably live a very inspired life most of the time.  If you try to tame your Howl, socialize it, or teach it to behave “nicely” with others, you are probably inspiration-constipated.

And if that’s the case, may this post be a laxative for you.

Throw your head back.  All the way back.  And let that Howl loose… let It rise from your belly-core… up… up… to and through your Heart.

This is your life.  Why in the world would you want to spend the whole thing as a whisper?

This is fun and it actually makes me think of children. I have a son, almost 3, and I am trying to ‘break the cycle’ and allow him his HOWL. It’s a difficult balance trying to let children be who they are, but I believe it’s a very important concept to consider when you’re a parent these days. I do everything I can to make sure I’m not squishing his personality. Most of the people I know came from a controlling childhood, and many parents today are the same way, out of habit and lack of awareness. Awareness is the best thing that ever happened to me!!! haha. Great post!

Kudos, Jeannie! What a smart boy you have… to have chosen to come through a womb/woman who would encourage his immeasurable freedom. Bless you for pouring out such lavish love upon him. Not impending or controlling or limiting or bordering his IS-ness… that transcends conventional parenting. So, I give you deep respect for your juicy maternal instinct.

Having said that, this soul-HOWL is for adults, too. Maybe, even, adults especially. Because the further away we get from age 3, the harder it becomes for us to remember… the magic… of squatting on our hind-quarters… and bellowing out a fierce AAAHHROOOOOOOOOOHHHHH!!!!!
