Do. Something.

I’ve always thought it weird that one of America’s most catalytic leaders often inspires so much… well, so much observation.  Observation is such a passive thing.

And isn’t it ironic, downright lazy hypocritical to passively muse about activism?

Change doesn’t come from mere observation.  When you observe Dr. King’s life, do you find many instances of him observing?  Or was he up to something else?

“Crispus fell so Rosa could sit.
Rosa sat so Martin could walk.
Martin walked so Obama could run.
Obama runs so our children can fly.”

The memories we will review this Monday helped manifest the miracle we will witness this Tuesday.  I only hope that on Wednesday, when all the observational festivities are over, we get off the couch.  And do something.  Something that makes us feel so ridiculously alive that it’s bound to get someone else a little wet, too.

One Response to “Do. Something.”

I can’t tell of how much this post ‘speaks’ to me personally, and not only that, but also ‘slaps’ hard on my face, because I am too often guilty of this constant endless ‘passive observing’.
Your post has really reminded me again to CONTINUE to DO something with all the beautiful inspirations I’ve gotten either through blogs, inspiring articles, other people’s experiences, and also my own experiences!

It’s so true, Change doesn’t come only from mere, and endless “observation”!
Thank you so much for this post, Erika! it’s beautiful in its own way, as always! :)
