Last night in Grant Park I danced, cried, shook, laughed, hugged, screamed. And howled. Like a wolf. When the moon is full. I howled because it was the truest thing I could “say”. From my soul. From my heart. From my startled amazement at the wondrous, history-defying miracle that had burst forth.
It was redemptive. Redemptive for enslaved ancestors. Redemptive for unenlightened policies. Redemptive for cynical minds. Redemptive for limiting beliefs.
You are audacious indeed, my beloved, way-showing, hope-igniting, President-Elect Barack H. Obama. I will continue to vote for you everyday with ideals that I will insist upon… with optimism that I will keep fresh… and with dreams and goals that I will allow to grow as big as the Milky Way.
You have proven that all things really are possible. And you’ve inspired me to make my own proof. My own possibilities.
With much love for you, and for a country I finally feel a real part of because of you, I am
A proud and euphoric citizen of the United States of America,

What a beautiful letter Erika. I would be very proud to be an American right now! It was a beautiful and inspiring night, and redemptive not only for America but for people all over the world. Obama has given hope to the world. Huge Blessings, Love, Robin

Erika,
What a beautiful post. I wish I found you in the sea of people last night so I could have danced, cried, screamed — and yes, howled with you! I”m glad you were able to put some beautiful words to this inspiring, amazing night.
